A personal journal about teaching the Bible and ancient Near Eastern history/theology/religion/archaeology to university students in New Orleans, and whatever else happens to be on my mind.

Breakfast in Columbus
I'm in Columbus NE and about to have breakfast with my dad. It turns out the cancer is pretty severe, as the oncologist told him Monday that it is not just in his lungs, but in his brain and bones (hip) as well. He starts chemotherapy on Thursday. However, nobody has told him yet about the side effects of chemotherapy. I find that to be pretty amazing, that none of his doctors or nurses have set down with him and walked him through the entire process. He also doesn't understand how sick he is, which might be a good thing. Unfortunately I will be on the road back to New Orleans on Thursday when he gets his first dose. It's hard to be so far away from family when they need you.
